Levain x DSNY: Here’s to 30 Sweet Years

At Dinner Service, our goal is to use garment production to foster authentic connections and perpetuate the stories that inspire us. That’s why, when the opportunity to work with Levain Bakery to commemorate their 30th anniversary materialized, we couldn’t say yes fast enough.

Levain’s story began in 1995 when two friends, Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald, came together over their shared love of baking. They opened a cozy shop on West 74th Street, where they baked bread for local restaurants and their neighbors. Originally, their now-iconic cookie was created for friends who joined them in triathlon training. On a whim, they decided to offer it to others, and it quickly became a beloved NYC treat. Today, Levain continues to delight with its baked goods and has built a warm community centered around the joy of sharing great food.

The truth is, Levain embodies everything we value—craft, quality, and love for what you do. Like their cookies, we believe in taking time to create something meaningful, whether it's a perfectly baked treat or a planet-safe garment. So, when it came time to celebrate their milestone anniversary, we knew we had to take our time to create something that would honor what they’ve managed to build.

So, we are pleased to introduce our newest limited-edition collection to mark Levain’s 30th anniversary. This collection includes a 12oz French terry roll-neck sweatshirt, a classic blue chore jacket, and a medium-weight, vintage-fit ringer tee. It features classic silhouettes and custom embroidery that come together to tell the story of Levain's intentional and playful spirit. Because it is made from 100% sustainable materials, each piece takes that intentionality a step further through our planet-safe, people-safe focus.

Levain’s commitment and generosity to the communities they are a part of are nothing short of admirable. This collaboration is our way of honoring that spirit, creating something that is both meaningful and sustainable. For the past 30 years, Levain’s story has been one of passion, community, and, of course, amazing baked goods.
