Perenn Bakery: Made to return to again and again.
Flour on the counter. Flowers in a jar on the table. The door propped open. The first loaves are out, and the next batch is already in the oven. A regular from down the street doesn't have to order. She just picks up yesterday's conversation with the barista right where they left off. The light is soft, and the whole room smells like something sweet. Welcome to Perenn.
Care, repeated until it becomes a place, is what Aubrey and Tyler, the founders of Perenn and our newest collaborators, have spent years building. Their name comes from the perennial. The plant you don't have to replant. Tend to it, and it comes back, a little more rooted every year.
We know that feeling. We took our name from what happens at the table. The long meal with people you love. The story you've heard a dozen times and still want told. The memory you don't know you're making yet. Dinner was never really the point. The fleeting moment together was.
And the places where those moments happen matter.
Our stories parallel each other.
We both started in New York. Aubrey and Tyler in a culinary school kitchen, us in the city with a name and an idea.
We both came up through service. They cooked in other people's homes before they ever had a room of their own. We've spent years making uniforms for the people who keep restaurants running.
Neither of our names says what we make. They say what we care about.
We both care where things come from. Their flour and butter. Our cotton and the hands that stitch it.
We both believe the table is where life actually happens.
We both think stories are what make the world rich.
Neither of us is chasing new. We're after the thing you reach for without thinking. The loaf on the way home. The sweater you've worn so many times it takes your shape. Something simple, done well, done again tomorrow.
Maybe that's all a ritual is.
Every ritual deserves a uniform.
This one is Perenn's.
Introducing the Perenn Collection by Dinner Service. Three pieces, built to return season after season, each carrying a piece of the story.
A waffle ringer tee in heavyweight cotton, enzyme-washed until it's soft. Needle-knit ribbing at the neck and sleeves, a slightly oversized fit, and Peter, the Perenn rabbit, stitched at the chest. Near the hem, a woven label carries their banana bread recipe. It comes in kids' sizes too, because every regular starts somewhere. Usually eye level with the bottom shelf of the pastry case.
A rugby in heavy 11oz cotton jersey, striped in yarn-dyed bands of varying width. A twill collar, a covered placket, ribbed cuffs. At the hem, a woven portrait of the Perenn Bread Rover.
And a roll neck sweatshirt in 12oz cotton French terry. A raw-edged neckline, a boxy cropped body, tonal stripes. The Perenn wordmark on the chest and a small twill patch at the back of the neck.
Made to be worn in. Flour on the cuff, coffee on the sleeve. Proof you came back to what matters.
Perenn builds places where people feel cared for. Where they feel at home.
We make clothes for the same reason.
The door's open. See you tomorrow.
