DSNY is committed to only using upcycled, plant-based fibers, eliminating the use of plastic material inputs in our production. Microplastics entering our oceans from wash cycles of garments made from polyester (and other synthetic fibers) have a significant impact on the global carbon cycle, and over 900 marine species are affected by this plastic pollution. There is an urgent need to stop the continued flow of plastic into our oceans, and we are starting with making better choices around our material inputs.
“Dinner Service,” isn’t just a name to us – it represents a philosophy. We want the merchandise that fans take away with them to be as significant and memorable as the experience and connection it represents. Our aim is to take the unique communal experience that only seems to happen around the table, and try and extend the threads of storytelling spun during mealtime beyond the confines of tables and chairs.
A good story reverberates and we serve only the best.
OUR MATERIALS
Uses less water than conventional cotton to cultivate, and no harmful pesticide runoff into groundwater or residue on fibers.
Exceptional durability, high breathability, antimicrobial properties. Crop has minimal water and pesticide needs.
A silky, breathable material made out of sustainably harvested Eucalyptus and Beachwood tree pulp (wood cellulose).
Uses the agricultural waste from the banana plant, which would typically be burned to create a durable fabric that easily breaks down after use.
