Island Creek x Dinner Service: Salty, Drunk & Hungry
As cliché as it might seem, January is a time for reflection—a chance to look back at where we’ve been and how it’s shaped where we are now. It’s an opportunity to course correct, if necessary, and chart a path forward. To do our best to remember why we’re taking the steps we choose. To start this year, we’re kicking off with a partnership that reconnects us with our core values: growing community, helping the planet, and having fun along the way—values our newest partner, Island Creek, embodies to the fullest.
Skip Bennett, founder of Island Creek, grew up in Duxbury, Massachusetts, in the neighborhood where his family has lived since the 1600s. After years of harvesting mussels, razor clams, and steamers, Skip ventured into shellfish farming in the early 1990s, experimenting with quahogs before turning his attention to oysters. Despite years of trial and error—and plenty of setbacks—he built something extraordinary. It turns out, Duxbury Bay’s cold, salty waters proved to be the perfect environment… the Napa Valley of oysters if you will. And Skip transformed Island Creek into a thriving oyster operation.
But Island Creek is about more than just oysters. It’s about intentionality and community. Their sustainable, “use it or lose it” approach minimizes waste and ensures environmentally-safe processes. Oysters themselves are natural water filters, improving the health of the bay by reducing algal blooms and excess nitrogen. The ripple effects of their work are undeniable: an entire local economy has formed around oyster farming, from the 25 farms on the bay to the bustling patios, restaurants, shops, and even oyster-themed merchandise dotting the area. Island Creek has created a sense of pride, purpose, and togetherness for the community—a true win-win.
With that spirit in mind, we’re thrilled to announce our contribution to their story in the form of the Island Creek Henley Sweater. This retro-fit Henley features a needle-knit graphic across the front, Island Creek’s cheeky slogan “Salty, Drunk & Hungry” on the back, and is crafted with seed-to-sew organic cotton, reflecting our shared commitment to environmentally-positive practices.
No matter how busy life gets, it’s important to remember where we came from and find ways to give back. At Dinner Service, community is at the heart of everything we do, and we’re proud to partner with an organization like Island Creek that shares these values. Together, we’re not just celebrating great seafood—we’re celebrating the power of connection, sustainability, and the joy of doing good for good’s sake. Genuine and salty. Intentional but not too serious. And loving every minute of the journey.
The Island Creek Henley Sweater is available now.
